The Lovely Brenda

The acoustic properties of the village underground lend themselves perfectly to the soulful sounds of our tenor sax soloist Beverley Chadwick, who will play 'Wedding Dance' by Robert Jacob as part of The Rain Emperor.

Also known as The Lovely Brenda, Beverley is stylistically influenced by the 40s and 50s and musically inspired by Junior Walker, King Curtis, Pharaoh Sanders and Roland Kirk and of course Robert Jacob who was and is her greatest inspiration. Currently living in Cape Verde and playing with various Cape Verdian musicians and one Mexican, she is hoping to bring more European musicians to the islands and collaborate with the local musicians on various exciting projects.

Whilst resident in the UK she was a member of the all-female 20 piece saxophone ensemble Mass Producers; drum'n'bass/jazz quintet Naked Sunday Collective, and soul and blues band The Fugitives with whom she performed regularly in the UK and mainland Europe. Previous outfits include Le Maison Du Chant, D.Fabulous, Steel Bill and The Buffaloes.
